Richmond, Kentucky - My travels this past weekend took me north to the great state of Kentucky. As we all know in the coonhound world, Kentucky is known for its phenomenal support of the sport---from the legislation to the hunters to the showmen. This particular weekend’s event, the AKC Kentucky State Championship, once again had the support of the Kentucky Houndsman Association along with the Madison County CHA. The two combined certainly put on a show for us all. Total entries for the weekend were 53!! The participants vied for the titles of the AKC Kentucky State Nite Hunt Champion and the AKC Kentucky State Bench Show Champion.
Not unlike most of the country, the days were warm but cooled down at night enough to make for enjo yable hunts. The club members really helped for the whole weekend to be a successful event. I would like to thank Wayne Caudill, Jeff Farthing, David Canter, the Madison County CHA and the Kentucky Houndsman Association for everything they did to ensure such a wonderful event.
I would also like to thank the sponsors of the AKC State Award Package: AKC, Wildlife Materials,Tri-tronics, Imperial Trophies & Awards, Kelly’s K-Lights, Valley Creek Hunting Supply, and Black Gold Premium Dog Food.

See ya at the hunts!
