Heartland Classic Show Champions
6/29/2009  12:43:24 PM

Nashua, IA – The 4th Annual AKC Heartland Classic Bench Show Championship featured two days of Black Gold Bench Show Spectacular Signature Series competition coming down to the finish in a mother/daughter shoot out involving litter mate Treeing Walker Coonhounds. You could say it was in the truest sense “a family affair.”

Junior handler Rebecca Geffs, the amazing eight-year old from Casey, Ill., not only won the AKC Heartland Classic Youth Championship but also the Overall Heartland Classic Bench Show Championship as well. Rebecca handled her Treeing Walker bitch, Supreme Grand Champion Stackem Up’s Best Kept Secret to the Overall Youth wins in both the Friday and Saturday Youth shows making her the uncontested winner of the Overall Youth Championship title on Saturday.

Then Rebecca and her diminutive but big-winning bitch went on to win the Black Gold Bench Show Spectacular runoff in the Saturday show to advance to the final running for the AKC Heartland Classic Bench Show Classic Championship.

The runoff for the Overall 2009 AKC Heartland Classic Bench Show Championship consisted of the overall winning coonhounds from each day’s show. Rebecca’s competitionin the final round came from her mother, Denise Geffs handling Friday’s overall winner, Supreme Grand Champion Pony Mountain’s Little Buddy, the litter mate brother to CSG Stackem Up’s Best Kept Secret.

Saturday’s judge, Mark Hauck of Stockton, Ill., liked the way the Treeing Walker bitch moved and selected her as the 4th Annual AKC Heartland Classic Champion. CSG Pony Mountain’s Little Buddy was crowned Reserve Champion at the prestigious two-day show.

Congratulations to Rebecca and Denise Geffs, our AKC Heartland Bench Show Champions of 2009!
