Norway, SC - The Norway Coonhunters Association, hosts of the 2005 AKC South Carolina State Championship is one of those clubs that has been around a long time and believes in AKC coon hunting. Club Secretary/Treasurer Don Nettles remembers when the club held hunts at the old school in Norway before moving to their nice new facility about 5 years ago.
"We used to hold AKC hunts in the old school in town and draw 100 dogs a night," Nettles remembers. The 2005 State Championship entry ran about 5 times that of the 2004 event and Nettles sees a future for the club with AKC.

Tony Brazell, owner and handler of 2005 AKC South Carolina State Champion Toucan Sam can obviously see that future from his position atop the heap of coon dogs that hunt regularly in Nite Hunts in the Palmetto State.
Tony's AKC State Champion Toucan Sam dog, a three year old Treeing Walker male won the State Championship on Saturday night with a score of 675 plus.
