Ozark, AL - 64-dog Gold Medal Results
4/30/2006  5:10:15 PM

Ozark, AL. History has been made in the AKC coonhound world---the first 64-dog Black Gold-Gold Medal event has come and gone! It was a picture perfect weekend in south Alabama for a coon hunt. Once again, the Heart of Dixie CHA helped AKC put one in the record books. A total of 37 entries were entered in the event. Ten casts were hunted Friday night which meant those ten winners advanced to the early round on Saturday night.

The stage was set for Saturday night as the three casts were called to the woods. One with four dogs and two three dog casts. As midnight approached, the hunters began returning to the clubhouse. The three cast winners chose to split which paid them each a nice sum of $598.27!!!

Thanks to all of the hunters that participated, especially to those that had long drives.

Many thanks once again to the Heart of Dixie CHA for holding such a fine event. Their support of AKC has certainly been appreciated and I look forward to working with them in the future!

The final cast for Saturday night included the following (pictured L-R):

Maniac's Hardwood Cotton, an 11-year old Treeing Walker femle, owned and handled by Lavonne Barron of Troy, AL, scored even paying $598.27.

Cedar Creek Rowdy, a 5-year old Treeing Walker male, owned by Eddy Parker and Jimmy Jones of Newville, AL, handled by Eddy, scored 350+ paying $598.27.

Abbey, a 4-year old Treeing Walker female, owned and handled by Jason Adams of Graceville, FL, scored 125+ paying $598.27.

The other seven entries in the Saturday night early round received their $100 entry fee. The three casts making up the Saturday early round with the handlers and judges are as follows (for more pictures, click on Message Forum, go to General Message Forum, click Ozark's Results):
