AKC AT SOUTHEASTERN TREEING WALKER DAYS
Executive Field Rep Lyndell Price and I had a great weekend at Southeastern Treeing Walker Days in Salisbury, North Carolina. The SETWA is the parent club for the Treeing Walker in AKC and it was great to see all the officers and directors of SETWA. These guys do a fantastic job with one of the nation's premier coonhound events.
Crowds, as usual were huge and the vendor's barns and the vendor's midway were at capacity as I did my customary walk-throughs on Saturday.
Lyndell and I had a tremendous weekend with lots of folks stopping by to discuss the AKC program. The majority of the activity surrounded AKC events and how to have them at the local clubs. We distributed lots of new club packets, took several registrations, and visited with a lot of great folks. We appreciate all that stopped by to visit. It was a tremendous weekend for AKC.
Thanks to the SETWA board, we were once again afforded a great location in the headquarters building in an area occupied by the booths of Wildlife Materials, American Cooner, the Treeing Walker Breeder's and Fanciers, Black Gold Dog Food, and Purina. Our booth adjoined the Grizzly tobacco stand on Saturday and it didn't hurt our efforts to have the hundreds of folks that were in line for samples to pass by our booth. .
I saw so many friends that I dare not try to list them but I'll just say, it was great to see you all as always. One very special visitor to the booth was Bobby Shive. Bobby owned the Gold Hill Tom dog out of House's Chief and hunted House-bred Treeing Walkers before being injured while coon hunting. It's always great to see Bobby at SETWA Days.
I hope that each of you had a safe trip home from North Carolina. The weather was great and as ever, it was another great event hosted by the SETWA.
AKC AT THE CYSTIC FIBROSIS BENEFIT IN TEXAS
Senior Executive Field Rep Jerry Moll traveled to Atlanta, Texas this weekend to work with Dexter Whatley and the great 4-States Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Hunt and Show. AKC is so proud to be a part of this great charity fund raiser for the first time. Entry totals were in excess of those last year and we’re proud of that. Thanks to each of you that came to Atlanta and participated in this great cause. And a big “atta boy” to Dexter, to Alcoa Corporation, and to all the sponsors of the event. AKC is proud to have contributed to the added purse and the special hats given to the winners. Jerry reports that all went exceptionally well and has posted all the major winners on the Message Forum. Thanks Jerry!
